It’s time to smoke.

Well, if I’m being honest with y’all… it’s always time to smoke. Today being the stoner’s holiday of course I’m bringing you a new mask to celebrate. This is my fourth sneaker mask that functions as a smoke device, in chronological order: No.11 Cheech & Chong SB Gas Mask, No. 82 Skunk Dunk Gas Mask, No.96 Cigar & Champagne VI Gas Mask and now No.114, the Hemp SB Triceratops Gas Mask. This mask however goes about it in a new way. Just below the nose horn there is an opening that would normally fit an air canister/filter for a gas mask. Instead I crafted a dual hose attachment with 4 foot hoses and a rubber adapter that allows each hose to hook up to a number of different types of smoking devices. Aiming for the stars we chose to attach the mask to a Mothership rig for its maiden voyage. If you’ve been following FreehandProfit on SnapChat you were able to witness the trip for yourself.

Made from all 3 color ways of the infamous silver box Nike SBs, these deadstock sneakers were more than 12 years old before I deconstructed them to create this piece for @Herbert_Huckabee from @MadroneFarms & @HIVECeramics. The fact this mask is constructed from 3 pairs of shoes that were manufactured back in ’03 and that I was using 3 different color ways played a role in deciding on the Triceratops theme. Cast from the Hellafant’s tusk mold, each horn is roto-cast by hand to create a hollow, and thus lighter, horn. And where previous horned masks like the Toro IV and 3Lab5 Hellafant featured smooth horns the texture of the hemp called for a sculpted texture on the horns.

I photographed the mask at the only legal grow house in West Hollywood in Los Angeles, California. Special thanks to @AHHSWeHo_ for having us and allowing me to photograph the mask amongst your beautiful plants. Straight from the shoot we headed over to B Real TV for a spot on Getting High With Adam Ill. You may have caught my appearance on the show last October where we discussed my 100th mask, if you missed it you can catch it here or by going to GettingHighWith.com and searching ‘Freehand Profit’! You definitely won’t want to miss our most recent appearance where Adam Ill takes rips from the Hemp SB Triceratops mask so stay tuned to GettingHighWith.com.

I’ve always titled my work with it’s chronological number and reference to the shoes it was created from. It might just be time to change that. While in LA for the shoot I spoke with quite a few folks about it and there were some great suggestions for a new title for this mask. Triceradabs… Triceraterps… Highceratops?
