For the past few months I’ve been remastering the 99 masks leading up to the release of my 100th sneaker mask. Tonight No. 100 releases and so I’m wrapping up with a recap of the final 10 masks leading up to it.
I was past due for making a mask out of one of my favorite sneakers, only right to do it with THE classic colorway. And released on Air Max Day nonetheless.
I bought these “Bo Knows Horse Racing” Air Trainer 3s while in the Bronx for my first SneakerCon NYC. I chopped them down at the show and since then I’ve done Live Chops at SneakerCons all across the country. This mask has toured with us and was built extra tough for fans to handle and try on for themselves. It’s now in Paris on display as part of an exhibition on sneakers.
The first in a series of 3 Converse masks made for the launch of their Chuck Taylor II. Created days after the death of my dog Winson X, this mask bears a resemblance to my favorite breed – pitbulls.
Each sneakers I chop have their own character. Some scream out, others develop slowly emerging from the scraps of canvas and rubber. The Blue Jay like character wasn’t planned but was also no accident.
None of the hype, entirely classic.
Custom cast midsole teeth for horns and canister with see through sole that reveals a Freehand Profit logo, this mask isn’t only cold it’s killer.
Masks made from packs always bring a new level of creativity. Sole High made a great decision to sacrifice this highly coveted Jordan pack. Make sure you follow them on IG and check out their online shop, we’ll be releasing limited edition Freehand Profit x Sole High tees featuring this mask… in glow in the dark ink!
An artist is always their own worst critic, not on this one though. These masks were on my mind for so long it felt like they flew from my finger tips once I had the shoes chopped.
For No.98 I teamed up with Sneaker Pimps, one of the very first sneaker events I ever worked with. Only right to bring it full circle with a mask made from Jeremy Lin Air Force 1s that they chose.
Released just last night, with a hinged glow in the dark sabertooth tiger skull built in.
And at midnight Number 100 releases finally, an elephant gas mask made from 3Lab5s. Stay tuned!
