The Three is my favorite of Jordan Retros and that definitely carries through to my Jordan 3 masks. The Black Cement 3 Gas Mask was a major milestone for me and it brought about some of my closest alliances, most noteably with 8 and 9. The Black Flip 3 Gas Mask demands attention with its laces blending with braids, shot during a music video shoot. The White Cement 3 Gas Mask has been reincarnated as patches, lace locks & more. The Stealth 3 Gas Mask is one of my favorite shoots, in an abandoned mall alongside fellow photographer Justin Butts. The True Blue 3 Gas Mask joins a mighty line up.

Crafted from a pair of size 17 True Blue 3s, this is the biggest pair of shoes I’ve ever dissected. They previously belonged to a player for San Diego State but came to my Chopping Block through a favorite sneaker boutique of mine, Rosewood San Diego. The mask was commissioned by and now belongs to Everlast, known both as Hip-Hop legend of House of Pain & La Coka Nostra and ever since “Whitey Ford Sings the Blues” as one helluva modern singer/songwriter. I’ve been a dedicated listener since high school so it was an honor for me to create something for Everlast. I also gained a lot of insight from our talks at his studio about art, the creative process and life in general.

While we shot a few photos of this mask inside the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles, I also plan to photograph the True Blue 3 Gas Mask again in the future. The True Blue III Gas Mask was originally released in Sneaker News Vol. 1 with a photograph by Quang Le. Check out the extended cut with additional photos by Quang Le here.
