The Freehand Files: No.30: Christian Louboutin Gas Mask

Some of what I’ve tried to convey through my work is the importance of making memories and living a life worth living in these kicks we covet. If we are going to embrace this subculture of sneaker culture then we must do more than just “own” these pieces. When Jasckon Rogow brought his luxury Louboutin sneakers to my chopping block they were worn hard at Coachella the weekend before. His ‘devil may care’ attitude to kicks that cost about a month’s rent for most people allowed me to shed any preciousness I may have approached the work with.

Today’s mask has never been officiallyΒ released online. It debuted in 2012 as an exclusive mask in my first art book: Army of the Undeadstock.
