BAIT in Diamond Bar has had a stellar year for sneaker collabs. Some of you I’m sure have seen the Wolverine mask I made from a pair of their Asics “Olympic Rings” pack. They were generous enough to donate pairs of their Reebok Question Mids to my creative process so that I could create and photograph a new mask to be auctioned off as part of the “Fresh to Death” charity art auction.
Betsy VanDeusen and I photographed the BAIT x Reebok Question mask just hours before the “Fresh to Death” opening. We shot it at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, it was the location of the Puma x Sneaker Freaker “Bunyip” photo shoot. Although you’d never guess it because there’s so many seemingly different environments in one place.
The mask, like the shoes, features black suede and patent leather complimented by artificial snakeskin and glow in the dark elements. Special thanks to Charlton who helped laser cut and etch the lenses as well as extra parts which I used to mold and cast custom resin parts.
I’m proud to announce the auctions are now live via eBay. You can now place your bid for these unique works of art by artists Betsy VanDeusen, Gretchen Mars, Chris Tobar Rodriguez, Charlton Yu, ROM and Freehand Profit. Through eBay’s Giving Works, 100% of the proceeds will go to Invisible Children Inc. Invisible Children “works to rehabilitate children directly affected by the LRA and invest in education and economic recovery programs in the post-conflict region to promote lasting peace.”
