Latex MerFace – Mask 170

November 2, 2010 – Latex MerFace Mask

Making a custom latex mask is no joke.  First you have to use alginate to mold your face.  (This was my favorite part, Betsy and I had a blast covering me in a bucket of thick, snot-like alginate)  Then you make a plaster mold of your face from the algenate mold.  From there you use modeling clay to reshape the face… and then ANOTHER plaster mold from that.  The latex is poured in to that mold and once it cures it can be adhered to the face using spirit gum.  Big thanks to a very talented make up artist Shelly Tabuno for applying the mask and make up.
